    Расчёт PIT-37

Let's start with what PIT-37 is.

Every person officially working in Poland is obliged to report his/her income. For this purpose, there is a PIT-37 declaration, in which all income of the employee is reported. In Poland, this tax is often called “podatek od dochodów osobistych”.

Where do I get the data from to fill out the PIT-37?

The data comes from the PIT-11 return, which the employer must file with the IRS and give a copy to the employee. In this return, the employer indicates the amount of money received by the employee. The employee's task is to check whether the employer has correctly stated the amount of annual earnings and, in case of any shortcomings, to inform the employer for further correction.

Why go to all this trouble?

Firstly, you should not forget about the benefits provided to the employee by the Polish state. This can be a tax refund for children, internet, etc.
Secondly, there may be several employers and income from each of them must be present in the PIT-37 declaration.

When are these documents filled out?

The employer must submit the PIT-11 no later than February 1, when the employee in turn can report by May 1. Let's make it clear that in case you do not take any measures - nothing terrible will happen. PIT-37 is generated automatically. Your main task is to check the correctness of the data and make additions (children, internet, etc.) for a tax deduction.

There is an important nuance: before the employer submits the PIT-11, the employee must have a PESEL number, without which the tax return will not be filed.
There's another case where problems may arise that you won't be aware of: after the PIT-37 adjustment, it may turn out that it's not you who owes the refund, but you who owes the extra. This often happens when you (officially) get a pay raise during the year. You have until April 30 to get the required portion of your tax refund.

Where do I get my money back?

You can use the “Tax microaccount generator”. Here you need to specify your pesel number, after which an account will be created for you, to which you can transfer the missing funds.
