Profil Zaufany for foreign nationals in Poland

Profil Zaufany is a free government electronic identity method that allows a person to verify their identity in Polish public online services and sign documents using a trusted signature.

It can be used to:

— submit and sign applications to public authorities;
— access MOS 2.0 through login.gov.pl;
— sign temporary residence, permanent residence and EU long-term resident applications;
— sign a CUKR residence-card application;
— use ePUAP, ZUS, e-Urząd Skarbowy and IKP;
— sign an application for an e-Doręczenia address and mailbox;
— register or update a JDG through biznes.gov.pl.

What is Profil Zaufany used for?

Profil Zaufany is used for electronic identification and for signing documents with a trusted signature.

It is used with MOS 2.0, ePUAP, e-Doręczenia, PUE ZUS, e-Urząd Skarbowy, biznes.gov.pl, Internetowe Konto Pacjenta and other public services.

A PESEL number is required. Your name, surname and PESEL details must match the information held in official records.

Who can create a Profil Zaufany?

A foreign national may create a Profil Zaufany when they have a PESEL number and can confirm their identity. Citizenship itself does not prevent registration.

When you do not yet have a PESEL number, it must be obtained first. The profile can then be confirmed through supported online banking or in person at a confirmation point.

Before registration, we check the spelling of the full name, the PESEL number, email address and phone number to reduce problems with login.gov.pl and electronic signatures.

How much does Profil Zaufany cost?

Creating a Profil Zaufany independently is free of charge. The Polish government does not charge a fee for registration.

How can Profil Zaufany be confirmed?

Profil Zaufany may be confirmed through supported online banking, e-ID, a qualified certificate, video verification or in person at an official confirmation point.

For many foreign nationals, online banking or an in-person confirmation point are the most practical options. An accepted identity document is required for in-person confirmation.

Validity period of Profil Zaufany

A Profil Zaufany is valid for three years from confirmation. Its validity can be extended for another three years through the profile panel.

Profil Zaufany for residence permits and CUKR

Since 27 April 2026, applications for temporary residence, permanent residence and EU long-term resident status are filed electronically through MOS 2.0.

The application must be signed electronically. Profil Zaufany is one accepted method, alongside a qualified electronic signature and a personal signature where applicable. Electronic CUKR applications also require an electronic signature.

Yes. Profil Zaufany can be used to sign in to the relevant public service and electronically sign an application. It does not by itself determine whether you meet the eligibility conditions.

Which is better: a bank or a confirmation point?
Online banking is often faster when your bank supports the service and your data matches. A confirmation point is suitable when you cannot or do not want to use bank-based identification.
Is Profil Zaufany required for a residence permit application?
Applications filed through MOS 2.0 must be signed electronically. Profil Zaufany is one available method, alongside a qualified electronic signature and a personal signature where applicable.
Can Profil Zaufany be used to register a JDG?
Yes. It can be used on biznes.gov.pl to sign in and sign business applications, provided the person is legally entitled to operate a JDG.
May I share my login, password or verification codes with an agent?
No. Login credentials, passwords and verification codes must be used only by the profile owner. A specialist may guide you through the steps but should not access the account in your place.
